The 26 year old female Czech professional tennis player Petra Kvitova, was stabbed in the left hand when she tried to defend herself from a knife attack , but it has been confirmed that the injuries does not pose threat to her life.
She was attacked on Tuesday morning 20th of December in the town of Prostejov in the east of the country, which is home to a national tennis academy.
The Wimbledon champion took to twitter to anounce the inccidence.
Prostejov police spokesman, Frantisek Korinek, said the attacker, who was aged about 35, escaped from the house and a manhunt is underway.
There is no report if she recognised her attacker, who she described as an ‘individual with a knife’.
