PLAYER WHO SURVIVED PLANE CRASH SAID LAST MINUT SEAT SWAP SAVED HIS LIFE



Ruschel was one of six survivors from the plane, which crashed into the mountains near MedellĂ­n on 29 November 2016. 71 people were killed, including almost all the Chapecoense team, directors and staff.


27 years old defender Alan Ruschel, said  a request from club director Cadu Gaucho to change seats and move further up the aircraft made the difference.

"I didn't want to leave my seat right away," he said while addressing nationally televised press conference.

He said he left the seat after goalkeeper Jackson Follmann also called him to move up and sit next to him.

"Then I left the back and I went and sat by Follmann. That's what I remember," he said.

Follmann also survived, and still responding to treatment.

Ruschel said.."I have no words to explain what I'm feeling, "It's a mix of feelings: a great happiness to be here again, seated here, but at the same time sadness for having lost so many friends."

According to Doctors, Ruschel could make a full recovery in six months.

The Colombia's civil aviation safety chief has said the plane disregarded international rules on fuel reserves.
but A harrowing recording has emerged of the pilot radioing the control tower to report he was out of fuel. investigation is on going.
