NEWS UPDATE:INSUFFICIENT FUNDING IS FALLING THE GLOBAL PROGRESS OF CONTROLING MALERIA:. (WHO) WARNED


World Health Organisation "WHO"  has warned in its anual report on tuesday that global progress to controling maleria is falling due to need for more funding.


The numbe of new cases fell by 21% in 2010 to 2015.  and morality rate fell by 29% to 31% in the african region.

212 milloin new case and 429 thousand deaths was recorded last year, and 43 percent of the population in sub-Saharan Africa were
not protected by treated nets or indoor spraying.

WHO warned that "sustainable and sufficient funding for malaria
control poses a serious challenge", saying that after a steep increase
between 2000 and 2010, investment had "flat-lined".
"In 2015, malaria funding totalled $2.9 billion, representing only 45
percent of the funding milestone for 2020 ($6.4 billion)," it said.
