FASHION UPDATE: ANKARA FABRIC AND THE RICH CULTURES OF AFRICA



Ankara fabric also known as African wax prints ,these clothing fabrics are popular and common materials for clothing in Africa, mainly West Africa. They are industrially produced colourful cotton cloths with batik printing.


Africans around the world has used ankara to celebrate and display the Rich culture and heritage of the continent, a traditional African woman alway wrap this materia around her waiste while she go on with her daily activities, ankara is always among gift item for marriage ceremonies like traditional marriage,  it is also used as asebi(uniform wears) for wedding attendees



Ankara is taking over the world.


Over the years. ankara has been a source of inspiration to many african and western designers.. fashion designers has find a way to blend the African tradition into modern life style. with different designs emerging on the runway every week.

Ankara can be mixed with any other clothing fabric to form a unique design such as occasional wears, street wears, swimmers, under wears juwelrie, etc.
